Maize school board member Kent Voth announces resignation
Kent Voth, a member of the Maize Board of Education, is resigning from the board because he plans to move outside district boundaries later this month, officials announced Wednesday.
Voth, who has served on the board since 2011, anticipates that he will sell his home this month. His resignation is effective Aug. 28.
At that time, in compliance with state statute, Maize will advertise a vacancy for the seat for 15 days, the district said in a news release. School board members will accept applications for the seat and select an interim candidate, who will serve until Voth’s term ends June 30.
The seat will be up for election in April. The interim member may choose to run to be elected to the position.
Voth represents District 1, which is the southwest portion of the Maize district. His replacement must live within the voter district boundaries.
A specific geographic description of the boundaries is available on the district website, www.bit.ly/266boedistricts.
