The Wichita school district has rescheduled a farewell reception for outgoing superintendent John Allison. It will take place June 5.

The reception, 4 to 6 p.m. June 5 at the North High School library, 1427 N. Rochester, is open to employees, business leaders and community members. It will honor Allison’s eight years of service to the Wichita district.

Allison will leave next month to become superintendent of schools in Olathe. Alicia Thompson, currently assistant superintendent of elementary schools, was appointed to replace Allison and will take over the top post July 1.

The reception, originally scheduled for last week, was postponed because of severe weather.
