Man who called 911 to report stabbing charged with murder

A 63-year-old Wichita man accused of stabbing a 64-year-old woman to death last month has been charged with her murder.

Larry Andres is facing an Aug. 11 preliminary hearing on one count of first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Marilyn Dye, according to Sedgwick County District Court records. Wichita police have said Andres called 911 on July 24 to say he’d killed his wife and would be waiting for officers on the front porch of her home in the 1100 block of South Martinson.

Marilyn Dye was found dead in a bedroom from multiple stab wounds. Authorities have not said what motivated the stabbing.

Andres was formally charged July 29, according to court records. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
