An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Burger King earlier this week in south Wichita.

The man was taken into custody early Tuesday afternoon in an apartment on South Clifton, records show. Police connected him to the robbery of the Burger King at 1909 E. Pawnee at about 10 p.m. on Monday.

Police have said a man called the Burger King and said he was going to rob the restaurant. He arrived and forced his way inside even as an employee was trying to lock the door. He then displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register.

After an employee complied with his demand, the robber left – firing a shot at another employee that pursued him outside the building. The bullet missed the employee and struck the building.

Police identified the suspect, and he was arrested little more than 12 hours after the robbery. Investigators are looking into the possibility he also robbed the same business at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, as well as other recent robberies.
