Burger King robbed for second time in two days
He called Burger King and told the person who answered he was coming to rob the place.
It was no joke.
As an employee was trying to lock the door moments later, the 18-year-old man arrived and forced his way into the restaurant at 1909 E. Pawnee at about 10 p.m. Monday, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said Tuesday.
The suspect, who had a gun, demanded and received cash from the register. As he left the restaurant in the K-15 Shopping Center, he was chased by a 30-year-old employee, Woodrow said.
The robber responded by turning and firing a shot at the employee. The bullet missed the employee but hit the building, Woodrow said.
The suspect then left in a white Ford Fusion. The same restaurant was robbed at about 4 a.m. on Sunday.
“Investigators are working to see if the robberies are connected,” Woodrow said.
Woodrow praised the employees for trying to lock the doors and prevent the robbery, and then giving a good description of the suspect.
“In this case, they did everything right as to what they should have done,” she said.
Police have identified the suspect and are looking for him, Woodrow said.
