Armed man wearing Joker mask robs Picasso’s Pizzeria in Delano
First Batman committed a series of crimes in Wichita late last year.
Now the Joker is getting into the act.
An armed man wearing a Joker mask from the well-known television series robbed Picasso’s Pizzeria in the Delano neighborhood shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. James Espinoza said Wednesday.
An employee thought he had locked the back door to the restaurant in the 600 block of West Douglas. When he came out of a side room, he noticed the robber behind the counter taking money from the cash register, Espinoza said. Along with the cash, the robber took the 34-year-old employee’s cellphone and the telephone connected to the restaurant’s land line.
Along with the Joker mask, the robber wore black spandex. He left the same way he came in – through the back door.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
A 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged with robbing or attempting to rob three convenience stores while wearing a blue Batman mask in a three-day span in early November. Hailey Baughman is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday in Sedgwick County District Court on two counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery.
