Woman, 19, dead after shooting near 10th and Oliver

Wichita police are investigating a homicide that happened early Sunday near 10th and Harding.

Officers were called to the scene, east of Oliver, shortly after 1 a.m., according to Sgt. Ed Brower, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old woman with a single gunshot wound to her chest. She was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Police are in the process of interviewing witnesses, Brower said.

No further details have been released.
