A 39-year-old man wanted in connection with a stabbing last week in Newton was arrested Monday afternoon in Wichita, authorities said.

Gregory P. Moseley was captured after a Wichita resident recognized him at the Towne East Square and called 911 at about 4 p.m., according to a statement on the Newton Police Department’s Facebook page.

Wichita and Eastborough police officers responded to the scene and Moseley was apprehended. He was identified as the suspect in the stabbing of a 29-year-old woman on Thursday night in the 100 block of West Second Street in Newton.

Police have described the stabbing as the culmination of a domestic violence event. The victim was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition.
