Haysville wife sent husband child porn that he saved in secret phone folder, feds say
A Haysville couple has pleaded guilty to child pornography-related crimes after they were caught sharing explicit illegal images online.
Addilynn Jean Onuffer, 22, was sentenced Monday to 13 years, 4 months in federal prison after pleading guilty in February to one count of distribution of child pornography. Her husband, 27-year-old Gavin Onuffer, pleaded guilty on May 5 to one count of receipt of child pornography and is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 3, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas.
Court records say the couple came under the scrutiny of law enforcement in 2024 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip from online messaging platform Kik, saying that someone with the username “kiittykiitti” had uploaded and distributed dozens of sexually explicit files of children using the IP address at their home. An investigation revealed that additional illegal images were uploaded to Discord and sent through Telegram Messenger by accounts associated with Addilynn Onuffer’s phone number.
When law enforcement interviewed the couple, they said they were the only people who lived in their home, court records say. Gavin Onuffer said that he had received child pornography online on his phone but claimed he deleted it and blocked the sender, court records say.
But investigators determined his wife sent the images, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in the news release.
When she spoke with law enforcement, Addilynn Onuffer admitted to accessing, trading and storing the child pornography. Her plea agreement says she sent her husband explicit material because he “wanted to receive the images.”
Gavin Onuffer’s plea agreement says after receiving them, he saved them in a password-protected folder on his phone.
“Instead of holding each other accountable and stopping perverse activity, this couple engaged in their prurient interests together. There is no excuse for this behavior,” U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser said in the news release.
In a court document filed ahead of her sentencing, Addilynn Onuffer’s lawyer argued she should spend no more than eight years in prison, saying her behavior was tied at least in part to sexual abuse she endured as a child.
Gavin Onuffer could face five to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced, according to his plea agreement.
