A former department of corrections employee accused of having an illegal sexual relationship with an inmate told her in jail phone calls and emails that he loved her, “would go to jail for her” and “wished there were conjugal visits” so they could be together while she was locked up.

He also told the inmate that she “should have gone AWOL” while she was out on work release, according to a probable cause affidavit detailing their interactions.

The inmate told authorities that she began dating the corrections worker, 29-year-old Jonah K. Bundy of Goddard, after she sent him a friend request on Facebook in December 2025. At the time, she was a client of the Sedgwick County Adult Residential and Work Release Facility, 623 E. Elm in Wichita, and Bundy worked third shift there, the affidavit says.

When Bundy got her friend request, he responded: “You are trying to get me in trouble” and then gave her his phone number and asked her to delete the message, the affidavit says.

After that, they began communicating through texts.

Their messages “were sexual in context, and they would specifically talk about sex,” according to the affidavit.

At some point, Bundy started seeing her in person away from a corrections setting, the affidavit says. He would pick her up from her job at a hardware store, “would regularly come to her work to see her” and at least once took her to a chicken restaurant to eat.

Eventually, she “went to Bundy’s house to have sex with him,” the affidavits says she told investigators. That happened twice, she said.

After their intimate encounters, she would see him at work.

The inmate told authorities she and Bundy would kiss when he visited her at work over her lunch break and that “they considered each other boyfriend and girlfriend,” the affidavit says.

The inmate said Bundy knew their relationship was against the law and knew he “would get in trouble if someone found out.” That led him to give his employer two weeks notice that he would be quitting his job, the affidavit says she told investigators.

Authorities learned about the illegal relationship in January. Bundy was arrested in March.

Bundy is charged with two counts of unlawful sexual relations. His next court date is scheduled for June 1. He has not yet had been arraigned, which is usually the time defendants would enter a not-guilty plea.
