A former Sedgwick County correctional officer was arrested Monday on suspicion of having an unlawful sexual relationship with an inmate in the county’s custody.

The 29-year-old Goddard man was arrested March 30 after he “allegedly engaged in a relationship with a client” in December 2025, a press release from the sheriff’s office read. The Eagle does not name people who have been arrested unless they’ve been charged.

The man worked as an officer at the Sedgwick County Adult Residential Facility and resigned from his position with the Sedgwick County Department of Corrections sometime before the investigation into his conduct was launched in January 2026, the press release said.

He has been booked into the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of unlawful sexual relations with an inmate. His case will be brought to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.

The Sedgwick County Adult Residential and Work Release programs serve up to 165 adults who are either enrolled as a condition of probation or via direct commitment by the court, according to the county’s website. It aims to prepare clients for re-entry into the community.
