Police arrest 26-year-old after fatal shooting outside Wichita laundromat
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of felony murder after a shooting in the parking lot of a Wichita laundromat.
The victim was found bleeding from a gunshot wound to his upper body when Wichita police responded to the shooting in the 900 block of South Seneca just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to a hospital where he died, WPD information officer Kris Gupilan said at a press conference near the crime scene.
Gupilan said the shooting happened after a 26-year-old man confronted the victim in what investigators said was a targeted shooting.
On Sunday afternoon, Wichita police put out a press release sharing that the 26-year-old had been arrested by Wichita SWAT at 8:20 that morning. The Wichita Eagle does not name people who have been arrested unless they are formally charged by the district attorney’s office.
Police did not provide any additional information about the victim but in an email to The Eagle, Chief Public Information Officer Andrew Ford said that “as soon as we get some of that info we will share and update.”
