Teen relative arrested in connection with shooting death of 14-year-old Oaklawn boy

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the recent shooting death of 14-year-old Jesus Merino Terrero.

The shooting was reported early Tuesday, around 3 a.m., at the Englewood Mobile Home Park, a press release from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said. Terrero, who was shot in his upper body, died at the scene.

Detectives said Wednesday that an autopsy had been completed, and everyone involved in the shooting had been identified.

That same day, detectives took a 17-year-old relative of Terrero’s into custody. The teen was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts of criminal weapon possession and a count of aggravated child endangerment, the press release said. He has since been booked into the Sedgwick County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Facility.
