Augusta man, 57, killed in early morning shooting at El Dorado Lake campsite

A 57-year-old Augusta man is dead after a shooting early Monday morning at El Dorado Lake.

Butler County sheriff’s deputies found Rodney Logan “unresponsive from apparent gunshot wounds” around 4:10 a.m. after gunfire was reported at a campsite in the Bluestem Point area of the lake, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Logan was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There is a suspect in custody but his name is not being released at this time. This is still an active investigation and the events leading up to the shooting are not yet clear,” the news release says.

“This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.”

No other details were released Monday afternoon.

“More info will be provided as it becomes available,” Butler County Undersheriff Daimon Cundiff said.
