A 59-year-old Wichita woman was arrested at her house in north Wichita after a man was fatally shot at a nearby gas station, according to records released Wednesday morning.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in the killing of 33-year-old Darries Mitchell of Wichita. She was booked into Sedgwick County Jail at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday. She remained in jail on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called at 3:13 a.m. Tuesday after Mitchell had been fatally shot multiple times at Valero, 2011 E. 21st. EMS took him to Wesley Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Initial 911 reports said the shooting happened inside the store, according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications scanner traffic. First responders were told the victim was in the bathroom.

Police said there is no connection between Mitchell and the suspect, and the cause of the shooting is still under investigation.

She was arrested at her home in the 1400 block of North Spruce, about 1.2 miles from the gas station, records show.
