Wichita man shot in back while walking Saturday morning
A Wichita man was shot in the back Saturday morning, police said.
Wichita police Sgt. Ron Hunt said officers responded at 4:15 a.m. Saturday to 2600 N. Vassar, near Hillside and 25th Street, where they found the 23-year-old male victim.
The man told police that he was walking east on 27th Street when a 28-year-old man shot at him two to three times from a car.
Hunt said the victim, who was shot once in the back, walked to a friend’s house on Vassar, who called 911.
Earlier, “the victim had been questioning the suspect about $3,000 he owes the victim, and believes this is the reason the suspect shot at him,” Hunt said.
Hunt said the suspect is known to the police but they continue to look for him.
The victim was taken to the hospital, Hunt said. He said he did not know the victim’s condition.
