The suspect is in critical condition after a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, according to a Sedgwick County Emergency Communications supervisor.

Officers have set up a perimeter near West and Westlawn in Wichita and are looking for a suspect who shot at officers, according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications.

The shooting was reported around 10:15 a.m. An officer reported being shot at seven or eight times by a male who had a backpack. Officers could be heard talking about creating a perimeter minutes later.

At 10:24 a.m., an officer said they saw a male running on 13th toward Zoo with a gun to his head.
