Wichita police arrested two Wichita men in connection with an extensive narcotics investigation on Friday.

Both 37-year-old Oscar Martinez-Ortiz and 60-year-old Ignacio Negrete-Diaz of Wichita were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance and distribution, Wichita police said in social media post.

The department had been investigating a liquid meth operation that was transporting illegal drug from Mexico and Phoenix, Arizona to the Wichita area, police said.

Officers conducted a search warrant at a home in the 2000 block of S. Greenwich. The search turned up around 28 to 30 gallons of liquid meth, the post read.

“What the officers seized from this house could have been converted into approximately 300 pounds of crystal meth,” the post added. “The estimated street value of this seizure is approximately $972,857.00.”
