Wichita police have arrested a man accused of stabbing another man and stealing his shoes Wednesday night.

Evans Ohajewke, 30, of Wichita was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, Wichita police said in a Facebook post.

Officers responded to a welfare check call in the 1100 block of N. Emporia around 11:13 p.m. after reports of a man screaming for help, police said.

Officers found a 49-year-old man on the ground with cuts to his upper torso. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the post.

Detectives said the man was beaten by multiple people. The man accused Ohajewke of cutting him with a knife while stealing his shoes, police said in the social media post.

Police found Ohajewke hiding behind a tree and were able to get him to surrender peacefully, police said.
