A man was taken to the hospital following a shooting in north Wichita on Tuesday afternoon, according to Wichita police.

Officers responded around 3:37 p.m. to a shooting call at 18th and Jackson after the unidentified man was shot in the upper body.

It was the second shooting Wichita police responded to in less than an hour: Officers had been working a shooting at 18th and Chautauqua in east Wichita.

The victim from the shooting at 18th and Jackson is in stable condition, Sgt. Anthony Klumpp said at the scene.

After the shooting at the intersection, a neighbor said he came outside and saw two males and a female heading north on Jackson.

One of the males was seen carrying a dog underneath his arm.

Police do not have anyone in custody and are investigating what led to the shooting.
