Man accused of 2007 rape in Sedgwick County arrested at Mexican border crossing
A man accused of a 2007 rape in Sedgwick County has been arrested at a border crossing between Texas and Mexico.
Roman Vela, 40, was arrested on suspicion of one count of rape on an active Sedgwick County warrant, Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Dan Dillon said in a news release.
Vela was booked into jail in Webb County, Texas on April 28. He will be extradited to Kansas, Dillon said.
No other information was available. It is unknown if Vela had lived in Wichita or Sedgwick County.
Dillon said in an email that this case is not related to the 2007 rape case in which 52-year-old Ted Foy of Augusta was arrested Monday.
Foy was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail after being accused of breaking into a southeast Wichita home and sexually assaulting a woman in Nov. 13, 2007, previous Eagle reporting said.
