A Wichita man is being accused of exploiting a child and distributing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Kansas.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging 50-year-old Jimmy Lynn of Wichita on suspicion of one count of sexual exploitation of a child-production of child pornography, three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, a news release from the office said.

Around Aug 24, 2020, Lynn is alleged to have taken pictures of a minor and uploaded them to social media messenger platforms, according to court records.

Lynn was interviewed by a Wichita police detective on Sept. 29, 2022 after a cyber tip line report from Kik came in related to child pornography being uploaded to its servers during June and July of 2022, an affidavit said.

Kik is a free instant messaging mobile app.

During the interview, Lynn told the detective that he “engaged in the trading” of child pornography two years prior. He added that his smart phone would contain child pornography, according to the affidavit.

After Lynn agreed to a search of his phone, the detective found conversations on Telegram, where Lynn sent images of the minor “for the purpose of receiving child pornography,” the affidavit said.

Telegram is another free instant messaging mobile app.

In a second interview with the detective, Lynn admitted to taking pictures of the minor and sending them through his Telegram account, according to the affidavit.
