Man charged with attempted second-degree murder in shooting
Prosecutors have charged a 26-year-old Wichita man with attempted second-degree murder for allegedly shooting another man in the face over the weekend.
Robert Parker also is charged with criminal use of weapons for allegedly having or using a sawed-off shotgun with a 17 7/8-inch barrel on Saturday, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Sedgwick County District Court.
Police said earlier this week that Parker shot his sister’s 33-year-old boyfriend in the right cheek as the couple argued over marijuana at their home in the 4000 block of East Cessna, near Pawnee and George Washington Boulevard. He fled the scene and was arrested about an hour later after being spotted by a helicopter in the 2600 block of South Holyoke.
District Judge Joe Kisner set Parker’s bond at $75,000 during a court hearing. He is due back before a judge on Oct. 22 for a preliminary hearing, although the date could be postponed.
The victim was in critical condition after the shooting but is expected to survive, police have said.
