Sheriff: Topeka woman fatally shot while driving on I-70 in Dickinson County

A woman is dead and a man was taken into custody after a shooting Sunday night in Dickinson County, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call around 9 p.m. at a Dollar General at 100 Dakota Drive in Solomon. They found Samantha Baum, 27, of Topeka, who was shot. Baum was taken to Salina Regional Health Center where she later died, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities determined Baum was shot while driving westbound on I-70 near Solomon. Eric Wymore, 48, of Beulah, Colorado, was booked into the Dickinson County Detention Center on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, the sheriff’s office said.

The shooting investigation is ongoing.
