Hoisington man jailed on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in Barton Co. killing

State and local authorities in Hoisington have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old last week.

Adam M. Sullivan of Hoisington was already in custody at the Barton County Jail on drug charges when the Hoisington Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested him around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in connection with the Oct. 27 death of Chase Anderson, according to a news release. Anderson was also a Hoisington resident.

Authorities say Sullivan fatally shot Anderson in the chest with a handgun at 405 E. 2nd St. in Hoisington but haven’t publicly discussed a motive. The men were acquaintances, the KBI said last week.

“The investigation is ongoing. Nothing further will be released at this time,” the KBI said in the release.
