Updated: Police identify man killed in west Wichita stabbing during property dispute
A 32-year-old man was fatally stabbed “one time in the chest” on Sunday in west Wichita, according to Officer Paul Cruz.
Rickey Mason of Wichita died from his injuries, police said in a news release Monday.
Cruz said police were called about the stabbing at 4:11 p.m. after a witness flagged down first responders. The stabbing was reported in the 1000 block of South Richmond, Cruz said. The address is near McCormick and Meridian.
“When EMS arrived, he was pronounced dead on scene,” Cruz said, referring to Mason.
The stabbing occurred in a dispute over property, he said without elaborating. During the fight, the person suspected of stabbing Mason “produced a knife” and attacked him, the news release said.
Police are looking for the “known suspect,” Cruz said.
“This is not a random incident,” the news release said.
