Have a traffic ticket warrant in Wichita? Here’s how to clear it without going to jail
Wichita police are launching a program to allow people to clear traffic ticket warrants without going through the Sedgwick County Jail.
The program, called Second Chance Thursday, will allow people to quickly clear traffic warrants issued by the city from their records. It doesn’t apply to tickets for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Second Chance Thursday will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. Citizens can check whether they have an active traffic warrant by visiting https://online.wichita.gov/CourtDataServices/CourtWarrantSearch.aspx.
The process involves meeting WPD officers at Patrol West Community Policing Office, 5803 W. Central, where officers will verify and clear the traffic warrant and citizens will sign an appearance form and be provided a court date regarding the alleged charges.
People who are unable to attend on Thursday can email Officer Lori Kimrey at lkimrey@wichita.gov to make arrangements to meet with police at a later time and date.
