Original story:
Wichita police say a 23-year-old woman who died following a shooting Wednesday night is the city’s latest homicide victim.
Police did not immediately release the woman’s name Thursday. A news release from the department says officers responded to a shooting call at a business in the 900 block of North Grove around the same time police received a call about a shooting victim brought into a local hospital. The reports were made around 9:20 p.m.
Police say the woman died of her injuries at the hospital. A 54-year-old man was also shot but he is expected to survive.
“Investigators are working on learning all the details of what occurred. This is not believed to be a random incident,” police said in the news release.
Anyone who has information about the deadly shooting or knows who was involved is asked to call Wichita police detectives at 316-268-4407 or contact one of the local crime tip lines.
