Bullet casings found in road near wrecked and abandoned vehicle, Wichita police say

Wichita police were called to a drive-by shooting early Saturday and found a wrecked and abandoned vehicle as well as bullet casings in the road near 21st and Oliver.

Officer Kevin Wheeler said in an email that the call came around 3:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of E. 21st Street North.

“Shortly after, officers responded to two walk-in reports at two different hospitals,” Wheeler said. “An 18-year-old male, who was shot, was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries. A 26-year-old male was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries, possibly related to the wrecked vehicle.”

The shooting was not random, Wheeler said.
