Deaths of two Wichita women are not connected, police say

The deaths of two Wichita women whose bodies were found less than a week apart are not connected, officer Charley Davidson said Tuesday.

The death of Shalan Niccole Gannon, 27, is considered a homicide, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Gannon, who has been missing since April 11, was found by a fisherman in the Ninnescah River in Sumner County on June 7. Savannah Schneider, 23, was reported missing May 31 and found by volunteer searchers in a field near Haysville on Saturday.

“It is not related whatsoever,” Davidson said. “We are still determining the circumstances of (Schneider’s) death.”

Anyone with information about Schneider’s case can call Wichita police detectives at 316-268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or the See Something, Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282. In Gannon’s case, tips can also be made to Crime Stoppers or by contacting the KBI at 1-800-KSCRIME or online at kbi.ks.gov/sar.
