Body found in Ninnescah River is missing Wichita woman killed in homicide, KBI says

A body found in the Ninnescah River last weekend belongs to a Wichita woman reported missing this spring.

Shalan Niccole Gannon, 27, was reported missing to the Wichita Police Department on April 11. The KBI called her a homicide victim in a news release that on Friday announced her identity and sought public tips to help solve the crime.

Anyone with information about Gannon’s disappearance and death is asked to call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME or submit an online tip at www.kbi.ks.gov/sar. Anonymous tips can be left with Wichita-Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, at www.wichitasedgwickcountycrimestoppers.com or through the P3 mobile app.

A fisherman found Gannon’s body in the Ninnescah River in the area of 130th Avenue North and North West Road in Sumner County on June 7. The condition of her body required an autopsy to determine her gender and identity.

The KBI didn’t say how she died or whether it had any leads about who killed her.

“The investigation is ongoing. Nothing further will be released at this time,” the release said.
