Bullet grazed man’s head as possible drug deal turned into robbery, Wichita police say

A bullet grazed a man’s head when a possible drug deal in southeast Wichita turned into a robbery and a shooting Tuesday evening, police said.

Wichita police were called at around 8 p.m. to a shooting at a home in the 4900 block of East Harry, department spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release. Officers found a 24-year-old man with a minor gunshot graze wound to his head, and he was taken to a hospital.

Investigators determined two people went to the home “wanting to know where to buy drugs,” Davidson said. As the three people interacted, one person demanded drugs as he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim.

The victim was robbed of his money and property before he was shot, and the thieves fled. Police did not say if the property included drugs.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
