Wichita Police Department arrests employee suspected of meth, paraphernalia possession

The Wichita Police Department on Saturday arrested one of its employees on suspicion of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The employee was not named in a news release announcing the arrest, but police and jail records show he is 38-year-old Chad Michael Hobbick of Wichita. Department spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said by email that the employee worked for the department for four years “in a support role for the Support Services Division.”

Hobbick was a full-time customer service clerk, not a police officer, Davidson said. He worked for the department from September 14, 2015, until he was arrested Saturday, when he resigned.

Davidson said officers contacted the 38-year-old at about 5:40 p.m. on Saturday after receiving information indicating he had involvement with illegal narcotics. Officers arrested him without any issues.

Police plan to present the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal criminal charges, Davidson said. Hobbick was not listed as a current Sedgwick County Jail inmate on Monday afternoon.
