Crack cocaine, cash seized during Wichita police SWAT raid at south Broadway motel

Wichita police Special Weapons and Tactics — or SWAT — team members seized crack cocaine, marijuana, cash, drug paraphernalia, a handgun and ammunition during a Friday morning motel room raid on south Broadway.

Police arrested 32-year-old Sterling Fleming of Wichita while executing a search warrant at the Afton Motel, 855 S. Broadway, at around 8:30 a.m. The raid is connected to an ongoing narcotics investigation, Wichita police spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said in an emailed news release that didn’t provide detailed information about the case or the quantity of drugs and cash seized.

Fleming is suspected of possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, Davidson said. He was inside the motel room when SWAT executed the search warrant, he said.

“This investigation is ongoing, and it will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office,” Davidson wrote.
