Thieves damage, steal $62K in equipment from Wichita landscaping company, police say
Wichita police are seeking public tips to help solve a weekend burglary at a local landscaping business where thieves damaged and stole nearly $63,000 worth of trucks, trailers and other equipment.
Anyone with information about the break-in at Suburban Landscape Management, 1100 E. MacArthur, is asked to call Wichita police investigators at 316-268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or the See Something, Say Something hot line at 316-519-2282.
Officer Charley Davidson, in an emailed news release, said surveillance video shows the thieves breaking into the company property at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and stealing a Ford F-350 truck with a dump bed, as well as a flatbed trailer with a small tractor on it.
The thieves returned in the stolen truck around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and took a second flatbed trailer with two mini bulldozers on it, police said.
Around 7:30 a.m., they went back to the property in a black Acura four-door vehicle. When one of the thieves broke into a building, it set off an alarm which drew authorities. Police arrived shortly before 8 a.m.
Davidson said in addition to the vehicles, the thieves stole several trimmers and blowers from a storage trailer and damaged two other vehicles. The losses are estimated at $62,650, according to police records.
