Woman suspected of hitting officer with stolen car arrested after pursuit

The Wichita woman wanted in connection to hitting an officer with a stolen car in March has been arrested after a chase Thursday morning, police said.

Police arrested 24-year-old Madilyn Kaye Roberts of Wichita on suspicion of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, felony flee and elude, aggravated weapons violation, theft, two city of Wichita warrants and a Sedgwick County warrant, police said.

At around 3:10 a.m. on Thursday, police tried to make a traffic stop on a stolen Chevrolet Sonic at Kellogg and Hillside. Robert refused to stop, police said. The car became disabled at I-135 and Lincoln, and Roberts was arrested without further incident, police said.

Also arrested was 24-year-old John Hall-Kennedy on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a Kansas Department of Corrections parole violation.

Roberts was wanted in connection to a March 16 incident in the 1200 block of West Second Street, near Second and Seneca. Police were called at around 8:40 p.m. that night to a report of a stolen car.

A woman was backing the stolen car into the driveway and an 18-year-old man was yelling from the front of the home when officers arrived.

“The officer ended up on the hood of the car before sliding off,” officer Charley Davidson previously said in a news release. “(A) second ... officer lost sight of the first officer believing he was being injured and drug by the vehicle, and fired three shots. Roberts fled the scene in the stolen car. No one was injured in this event.”

The man was arrested on suspicion of obstruction and on outstanding warrants.

Officers later found the stolen car abandoned at a business in the 9400 block of East Cooperate Hills.
