Volley of possibly more than 50 gunshots fired along Kellogg near downtown

A volley of gunfire that included what could be more than 50 shots woke several Delano neighborhood residents early Tuesday morning — but police say no one in the area was struck and no property was damaged.

Home security camera footage in the neighborhood captured the flurry of shots just before 2 a.m. In the video, dozens of pops that sound like gunfire ring out over about 40 seconds.

Wichita police spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said officers who responded to a check shots call at Kellogg and Meridian around 2 a.m. found “multiple shell casings” on along Kellogg and on a highway on-ramp. But luckily, “there were no injuries or property damage reported,” Davidson said.

Davidson asked anyone with information about the shooting or who was involved to call authorities. Tips can be left with Wichita police detectives at 316-268-4407, or anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, or the See Something Say Something hot line at 316-519-2282.
