Son shot dad in apparent murder-suicide during home argument, Kansas sheriff says

The shooting deaths of a father and son at a southeast Kansas home are believed to be a murder-suicide, law enforcement said.

Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves said in a news release that deputies were called to a rural Galena home at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday for a reported shooting. Deputies found two dead men inside the home.

Investigators determined 50-year-old Danny Allen Pennock was having an argument with his dad, 77-year-old Danny Wayne Pennock, Groves said. The son then got a gun, shot his dad and killed himself.

The men lived at the home with two women. The women were not injured in the shooting, which the sheriff said was an apparent murder-suicide.
