20-year-old man arrested in connection with south Wichita shooting, police say

A 20-year-old Wichita man was arrested Friday night in connection with a non-fatal shooting earlier in the week, police said.

Desabian Jaking Williams was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a firearm and marijuana. He was arrested at around 10:10 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of South Oliver, near 13th, police said.

The incident began when a 44-year-old man was shot while he was a passenger in a vehicle near Ross Parkway and Jewett, police said.

Police were called at around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday after the man went to an area hospital. A 19-year-old in the vehicle also had a minor injury.

The shooter fired multiple shots at the vehicle, officer Charley Davidson previously said in a news release. Police do not believe the shooting was random.
