22-year-old pregnant woman shot at Wichita home, police say

Wichita police are investigating after a 22-year-old pregnant woman was shot at a home.

Emergency crews were called at around 9 p.m. Sunday to a shooting in the 2600 block of North Minnesota, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release. That’s near 21st Street and I-135 in north Wichita.

Police found a 22-year-old woman with one gunshot wound to her body. The victim is several months pregnant, and the baby did not appear to be hurt, Davidson said. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Investigators determined the victim was one of five people inside a home when someone fired multiple shots at the house. One bullet hit the expectant mother, who was the only person injured in the gunfire. Davidson said the incident was not random.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
