Wichita man sentenced in robbery of Intrust Bank branch inside Dillons
The Wichita man who robbed a bank at a grocery store last summer was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison Friday, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said in a news release.
Jeremy Kyle Vos, 21, pleaded guilty in December to one count of bank robbery in connection to a robbery on July 23, 2019. An Intrust Bank branch inside the Dillons store near Harry and Edgemoor was robbed. Vos had been to the same bank three times that day, a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent wrote in an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court.
On the first trip, a teller told Vos that he needed his ID to get his account information. The second time, Vos was told the balance on his account.
Vos left and then went back to the bank about five minutes later. This time, Vos handed the teller a misspelled handwritten note on half of a bank deposit slip, the FBI agent wrote.
“This is a robbery,” the note read. “No die (sic) bags. I have a gun.”
He was given less than $1,500 — including 10 bait bills — and left the business, The Eagle reported.
Vos was arrested that same day at a friend’s house. Officers found some of the money and the note he used to rob the bank.
Vos made a fake bank robbery report to Wichita police earlier the same day. Court records show he has a history of lying to authorities about false emergencies, The Eagle reported.
