Wichita porch pirate caught with help of Ring camera sentenced to 3 years in prison
A Wichita porch pirate has been sentenced to three years in prison and was ordered to pay restitution for stolen Calvin Klein clothes.
Brittany Fletcher, 26, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to 36 months in prison and ordered to pay $77.88 in restitution and a $100 assessment, court records show. She pleaded guilty in December to one count of mail theft.
The plea deal states that the crime happened on May 19, 2018, after a postal carrier delivered a parcel to a woman’s home in the 7700 block of East Pagent Lane, near Central and Rock. The package was left on the front porch near the mailbox and contained clothing from Calvin Klein. Fletcher admitted to stealing the package from the porch, which was recorded by a Ring doorbell camera.
Additional charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. They were possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a gun in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.
