Kansas student arrested after school shooting threat, sheriff says
A student at a Kansas school has been arrested after allegedly making a school shooting threat, law enforcement officials said.
Ford County Sheriff Bill Carr said in a news release that deputies responded at around 10:52 a.m. Thursday to a threat of a shooting at USD 459 in Bucklin. The deputies were told boy “had made comments about shooting up the school.”
Deputies found the student about an hour later, at around 11:50 a.m., and arrested him without incident. The sheriff’s office has sent the case to the county attorney, requesting a felony charge of aggravated criminal threat. No additional information was released, including the age of the student or whether he had a gun.
“Deputies with the sheriff’s office did a great job getting the suspect in custody in a quick manner,” Carr said. “Every second counts in matters of public safety and witness cooperation is vital to the investigation.
