Teenager riding in backseat stabbed dad with knife as they drove to Kansas town
A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his father as they drove on a Kansas road.
Emergency crews were dispatched at around 4:18 p.m. Tuesday to an incident near U.S. 50 and Ridge Road, Harvey County spokesman Kyle McCaskey said.
“Father, 55, and son, 16, were in vehicle going from Hesston to Newton,” McCaskey said in an email. “Dad was driving. Son was in backseat. Father was talking to son, son was not answering him. Son reached forward and stabbed his father in the shoulder, one time, with a knife.”
The dad pulled over and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, where they arrested the boy on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder. The dad’s injuries are not life-threatening, McCaskey said.
