KBI arrests Topeka man in 8-months-long human trafficking investigation
State investigators have arrested a Topeka man for suspected sex crimes in connection to an eight-months-long human trafficking investigation, and more arrests are expected in the case.
Michael A. Anderson, 54, of Topeka, was arrested by Kansas Bureau of Investigations agents Monday morning on suspicion of rape, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery. The KBI said his arrest is in connection to suspected human trafficking.
Anderson was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Formal charges are pending.
The arrest was followed by KBI agents serving a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Southwest Ninth Street in Topeka. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected, KBI spokeswoman Melissa Underwood said in a news release.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Anderson has prior convictions in the state dating back to 1983, including involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, drug crimes and forgery.
