Woman found dead in ditch possibly hit by a vehicle, Crawford County sheriff says

Crawford County authorities say a Pittsburg woman whose body was found in a ditch Wednesday may have been hit by a vehicle.

Crawford County Sheriff Danny Smith said in a news release that a pathologist’s preliminary examination of 35-year-old Brandi S. Moore’s body shows injuries “consistent with being struck by a vehicle.” She was found dead Wednesday shortly after 8 a.m. in the west ditch of the intersection of Second and Walnut in Opolis, an unincorporated town in southeast Crawford County.

Smith said authorities haven’t yet found the vehicle or its driver. Moore is thought to have died sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Her autopsy report and an official cause of death are pending.

Smith is seeking information about the case from the public. Anyone who knows or saw what happened is asked to contact the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office at 620-724-8274. The agency also has an online tip submission form at crsoks.org/contact/online-tip-submission/.
