Wichita mother who molested 8-year-old daughter to please lover gets life sentence
A Wichita mother who sexually abused her 8-year-old daughter to please a high school crush she reconnected with over Facebook has been ordered to serve life in prison.
The mother, who is 40 now, will not be eligible for parole until she serves at least 25 years, said Dan Dillon, a spokesman for the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
The Eagle is not naming the mother to protect her daughter’s identity. It is the paper’s policy not to identify victims of sex crimes without their permission. The mother pleaded guilty in September 2018 to 13 crimes including rape, sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated criminal sodomy, according to court records.
The mother’s crimes came to light in August 2017 after her husband found sexual messages on her phone from her lover, 41-year-old Damian Isaac Hallacy, according to an arrest affidavit released in the case. Hallacy was sentenced in October to three life prison terms plus 53 months for 25 felony sex crimes involving six children, ages 8 to 16.
When authorities interviewed the mother, she told police she went to high school with and had a crush on Hallacy and reconnected with him over Facebook in March of 2017. After their involvement turned sexual, Hallacy asked her to include her young daughter in their trysts. She agreed, according to Hallacy’s arrest affidavit.
Investigators found several photos on the mother’s phone of the mother molesting her daughter. She also sent the pornographic photos to Hallacy, the affidavit says.
Sedgwick County District Court Judge Jeffrey Goering imposed the mother’s sentence Wednesday morning, court records show. The mother had asked for leniency, saying in a written motion that she “knows that she made the bad choices here” but felt her actions were “coerced and caused by her weak will and need to please” Hallacy.
But Goering refused her request, according to court records.
