Sedgwick County jail deputy arrested on stalking charges
A Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office jail deputy was arrested Friday for allegedly stalking a co-worker.
In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said Shawn McGonnigil was on administrative leave during the investigation. He had been with the department for roughly six years.
In addition to the criminal case, the release says, an investigation is being done by the Sheriff’s Office’s Professional Standards Unit.
This is the second time in the past four months a jail deputy has been arrested. In September, deputy Alexander J. Whiteman was arrested on two counts of theft, including one where he allegedly took $320 from a friend and co-worker.
