Wichita man arrested in connection to Best Buy robbery, chase that ended with wreck
Update 10:45 a.m.:
A 31-year-old Wichita man was arrested after robbing a Best Buy at knife point, leading police on a chase and then crashing with another vehicle Monday night, the Wichita Police Department said.
Rodrecus Alexander Tobble was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery, six counts of aggravated battery, battery on an officer and fleeing or eluding during a police pursuit.
Officer Charley Davidson said officers were told at around 8:40 p.m. that an armed suspect was leaving the Best Buy near 21st and Rock Road in a red 2006 Chevrolet HHR. The car was spotted near 13th and Hillside. Officers made a traffic stop.
Tobble stopped, refused to exit the vehicle and then took off, Davidson said.
At Pawnee and Hydraulic, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado struck the suspect’s vehicle. The two adults and four children in the pickup as well as Tobble had non-life threatening injuries, Davidson said.
Tobble battered an officer while being taken into custody; the officer was not injured, Davidson said.
Davidson said a Garmin watch, headphones, charger and cell phone were recovered.
Kansas Department of Corrections records show a 2009 aggravated robbery conviction for a Rodrecus Tobble. The conviction was for a Sedgwick County case where the man pleaded guilty for using a knife to rob a man of his wallet and contents.
