Armed robbery suspect crashes after Wichita police chase, emergency radio indicates
The alleged getaway vehicle driven by a suspect in a reported armed robbery crashed after a police chase through Wichita that lasted about 10 minutes Monday night, according to emergency radio traffic.
Wichita police initiated a pursuit at around 8:35 p.m. after an armed robbery was reported at the Best Buy store at 21st and Rock in northeast Wichita, radio traffic indicated. A police chase ended with the suspect vehicle crashing on Pawnee near Hydraulic in south Wichita at around 8:45 p.m. Firefighters and paramedics were then dispatched to an injury accident.
A Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor, citing policy, refused to answer any questions, including confirming that there was a robbery followed by a police chase and a crash, as well as whether any injuries were reported in the robbery or the wreck. She referred questions to the Wichita Police Department. Police spokesmen did not immediately comment on the case Monday night.
